So What is  Marriage and Family Therapy?

Marriage and Family Therapists (aka MFT's)....

 Are licensed mental health professionals in all fifty states in the United States and provinces in Canada.

Are trained to work with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings like private practices, community mental health agencies, hospitals, schools, among others. 

Recieve specialized training in treating mental health issues and have Masters Degrees, Education Specialists, and Doctorates.

Are REQUIRED to do a clinical internship providing face to face therapy with individuals AND couples or families while in educational programs, complete post-degree therapy under supervision, pass a licensure exam, and apply for licensure with the state they live in.

Can perform the same (or more) therapeutic services as other mental health professionals.
